The race start was moved from Palmer to Fairbanks due to the lack of snow in Palmer. That is incorrect. The start was moved because their is a large area on the west side of the Alaska range, the farewell burn, that is snow less. Veternarians were warning of stress to the dogs.

Is there a link to watch it on? I would like to keep track of it. One of the great sporting events.
wws Go to Iditarod.com and go to the Insider page. If you subscribe to it, you will be able to see the GPS trackers that the mushers are carrying. It’s a fun way to follow the race.

At least that is what I heard. I guess you know about it than I do, so just ignore what I said!

I have a family friend who ran the iditarod a couple times. I bring her dogs salmon. Helps her with food costs a bit. How did she do in the race? Three races and three completions, but no top tens. Still a really cool accomplishment to even make it to the iditarod.

That is Fix a Flat my friend. You have inflicted a mental image on me that I can only classify as a violation of the Geneva convention, so thanks for that.

I was told they feed them sled dogs a lot of beaver meat. They said at the start of the race, ever single dog on the team receives 10,000 calories worth of food ever single day! That’s a lot of food!

I heard they yet again wanted to avoid all the drunks in the Armpit.

I did the math on that once and it’s about equivalent to a 200 lb person eating and metabolizing a gallon and a half of crisco every day . Calorie wise that is.
