No, that's not us. We can trap fox starting November 1st and go until March 10th. We also have a hunting season for them.

Okay, must be one of those other States from around that area. I remember talking to some trappers at an NTA convention some years ago who told me about not being able to trap red fox because the old blue-blood aristocrat fox hounds-men had the red fox all to themselves.

Waggler, many years ago that was the case. Many, many years ago though. The duponts released them so they could hunt them. And nobody else could do anything with them. I’m not sure when that was, I just remember hearing that it was like that.

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

Robs correct... the DuPonts basically controlled DE politically for a long time, and that carried over into the DNR (IMO). Our red fox were 100% protected, because the DuPonts liked the horses, red coats, blue blooded lifestyle. Our grey fox were totally unprotected, no season, limit, anything goes.
DuPont company moved to Canada and Mexico for bigger profit margins and threw DE under the bus... fact... I worked there 25 years.

Our fox laws are very livable now due to a director with some common sense and hard working trappers keeping on getting things done legislatively.
They are pretty close to who we border... PA and MD. NJ is in another time zone I think (sorry Newt).

I am a lifelong resident of Delaware, 61 years old and have trapped here since I was 11 years old. The laws have changed quite a bit over the years, as other people have stated we couldn’t trap foxes for years, but thankfully that’s all been changed and we do have plenty of foxes here.
We also have a pretty good population of raccoon, otter, beaver, and muskrat, although not as many muskrats as we used to have on our saltwater marsh.
