Congratulations on the 20 wolf season that's very impressive to say the least !

As for the last picture I've never seen hoves in a scat pile before , keep up the good work on thinning down the moose munchers .

Enjoy your day and Stay Safe out there even if you don't want to ha ha !

You're friend along the snare line .

Trappers, (and biologists), in Southeast have been finding ADULT black bear claws in wolf stomachs for some time. It was learned that wolves figured out sleeping bears were easy meals, and the skill was "handed down" from adults to pups, like most successful animal behavior.
I think Jesse, (RosscoAK), on here has taken a couple from the northern panhandle with bear claws in wolf stomachs, as well.

In northern MN there were moose hooves in the wolf scat until the moose were pretty well wiped out, now it’s deer hooves, that source is dwindling. Bear hair in wolf scat is plenty in the spring, they are adept at catching cubs crossing swamps and clear cuts with no standing timber near.

A member here in a more sectioned area of the north got on a fresh torn up trail crossing the road in fresh and circled it out then tracked it in. A pack of wolves ran an adult bear to ground and killed it. The DNR dispatched a grown sow some years ago in a bee keepers yard. The sows face was literally torn off, blind and unable to smell she stumbled onto the honey and had no other option. DNR figured they caught her in a shallow den. There is nothing wolves can’t figure out how to kill for food or fun.

Thats some good luck or a lot of research to place yourself in the overlap of 4 different packs. I have two packs in my little area one small 6-8 member local pack and one large approx 10-12 big pack. The large pack seems to come through 1-2 times per season and the small pack every 4-6 weeks except this year they were there almost weekly for a bit.
