I used a round table because that's what I had found at a thrift store .
And it's quick and easy to clean up when you're done .

I had them attached to a work bench that I'd slide the table under so to speak .it's fast and simple to clean up when done and then you can board the beaver on the table when finished .

Another though get a rubber mat to stand on while skinning it will help save your back .

Keep up the good work !!!!

I do the same, except I had some big fish hooks (about 2") that I think came from my grandpa's commercial fishing days (before my time) that I hook in the legs, faster and easier than tying or looping the string around the legs. And I attached to the underside of the table, so they were always with the table and at the right length, wherever the table was. But I've been thinking of throwing together a trough to try. I watched a guy use one and they seemed pretty slick.

That beaver was 33" measured after it was skinned. Not sure if that is a good one or not. He is really wanting to learn to put up his fur next year. (The OP is my son)

Here another option. This is the Charles Dobbin's trough. I got the idea and plans from Mr. Dobbin's beaver trapping book.

I added a magnetic strip (Harbor Freight) to hold knives and fur comb, drilled a hole to hold sharpening steel, and put a hook on one end to hold the pair of pruning shears used to cut thru feet and tail bones especially in a hurry.

Obviously, I skin standing up.

Also works great to lay a gobbler on to peel him out.

get a three legged bar stool with a swivel seat and attach the trough makes it a breeze to work either side when clean skinning.
