well mostly, but if we don't take the picture now it may never get done and gonna head to town and sell and send to the tannery.

My second daughter (11) has really gotten into trapping this year. She caught two critters all on her own. Her first fox and then her first marten. I guess she did catch a snowshoe hare as well.

Though she didn't catch them, she did put up a majority of the squirrels in the picture. Good way to practice fur handling.

My wife had an average fox season, but she did well with marten. Not bad as the line is only 1.25 miles long!

It was a good wolf year for me and I still am going after them a little, but also starting beaver. I ended up getting four otter (one is still on the board) after a few pretty dry seasons. Lynx numbers weren't too high but marten was up overall and I still see sign of them running around. The number of squirrels was crazy. I have never caught so many (many we did not put up). They just kept coming and there is still tracks everywhere. Also caught my third cross fox ever so that was nice.

Season is pretty much over and that is okay. I have finished and sold everything I wanted to and then some will go to the tannery. It is interesting how much a season can vary year to year. There were very few wolves on the line this year and only saw a handful of lynx tracks, but marten and fox were the most abundant I have seen as well as weasels. I caught a few beaver under the ice and just got started after them again. I think the weather this season was the most cooperative it has been that I can remember.

My second came out regularily and had a few of her own sets to check each time. She more than doubled her catch compared to last season.

My wife didn't spend as much time out this year as she has in the past as other things were taking up her time. No foxes for her this year but the mink seemed to enjoy her fox sets and she caught her first weasel.

After all expenses are paid, I am not sure that I do any better than break even and have enough money to tan some furs for ourselves and others, but the benefit I get from being out in creation is well worth it and I will ever take advantage of the opportunity as long as I am able. Until next season. . .

From almost the Canadian border west to around Fbks. and out your way, trappers are catching more marten than the last few years. How about other trappers in your area?
Congrats on a successful season. Buying more traps?
