Hello all. I have a couple of coon hides/fur that I would like to be able to soften up if possible. These are my first 2 successful tannings and I need to make a hat for my little sis. Most of the hide on them is fairly soft but around the necks and some small spots are stiff like shoebox cardboard, but stiffer. Can the hides be wetted and re-tanned or something where I could restart the process, and get it softer? Or is there a product that can soften them? Thanks in advance for the help.

You can re tan the hides. Thinning the neck area more should make the hides easer to break.
