That's not a surprise

Who's buying beaver by the pound? Got a source for this info?

Most of the beaver in the states go by the pound.

Message sent.

Never sold beaver by the pound. Mine have always sold at auction or, measured by a furbuyer then paid accordingly by size and condition. Maybe next year I'll weigh them and find out the going rate per pound. Then compare that to what I actually get selling my normal way.
Has anyone already done this and found out which would have paid them better? I'd like to hear some figures from those who have. Thanks

Turtle both last year and this I have seen bidders at our association sales weighing stacks of beaver to determine what their bid will be. This year some of my lots went to the by-the-lb bidder and some to crafters who measure. A stack of blankets will average about 2 and 3/8 lb per pelt

Yea. The conversation came up last winter so I weighed a few put up beaver. I think someone said $22 or $25 a pound. What a friggin rip off! Unless they're weighing July ADC beaver....lol
Not even with todays market would I sell mine for that.

I would be jumping up and clicking my heels to get $22/lb for beaver.

What?

You wouldn't sell a 2+ pound dried pelt for $22 to $25 per pound?

That $44 to $50 plus per pelt.
