Was a tournament fisherman as a nonboater and got paired up with a guy in a Bullet. We were 5th to leave in this particular tournament and passed the first boat in less than 2-3min. I looked over his shoulder because I knew how fast the lead boat was and we were hitting about 93mph. I figured we wouldn’t even know what happened if we hit something, lol. To be honest it was one of the smoothest rides I’d ever been on.

How many that think there shouldn't be a limit are all in on requiring a helmet on a bike?

How many have fished Cooper lake on the Mississippi? There is a massive stump field that has claimed several sparkle boats as well as a bunch of injuries. Every year usually a couple end up hospitalized. Across the river are an assortment of wing dams as well. If you lose respect for her don't be surprised when you are added to the number game.

I have owned several so called sparkle boats. Own a Bullet bass boat currently. I'm not a fan of the thought of speed limits on lakes. It's a common sense issue. Adjusting to condions on the water is part of boating and I hope the victims families are well compensated. If speed limits are put in place I'll probably be getting rid of the 300. Don't know if a 150 will get me up on pad.

I'm not a fan of speed limits either that's why I think the target should be tournaments that create the conditions and greed that invariably lead some to unsafe acts.

The same could said of many " competition sports" but bass tournaments in particular combine a few notable risk factors such as speed, weather and public use on an already risky playing field.

As said, allow the tournaments a grace period to change how they operate to eliminate said risks or they go away.

At one time in Illinois the safe speed was up to the digression of the Game warden. While not 100% sure but my guess is that rule has been rescinded.
