Had a good turkey hunt yesterday morning. Started off slow. Went to a spot where I’ve seen a few hens and a nice Tom 2 days in a row. Slid in there early, no gobbles on the roost-only in the far distance. Three hens dropped into the field, I watched them feed and work their way back into the woods for about an hour before making another move. I walked down the long edge of this 170 acre field, stopped about halfway to make a call. I heard one fire off less than 200 yards in the woods. I slipped down a little further, and got to where I thought I was perpendicular between the gobbler and the field. Found a big pine tree and set up. I’ve learned over the years to not over-call, so I gave him about 10 minutes before I kicked around some leaves and gave him a few yelps. He fired off again, much closer. I had to get spun around to face the woods, and actually made a quick move about 20 yards towards him carefully, to get to a spot where it opened up a little and I could get better shot opportunity. This woods was timbered about 15 years ago, and it’s still pretty thick with saplings and greenbrier. Anyway I sat patiently waiting, and eventually spotted him, coming in my direction tucking his head/bobbing/weaving to get through the thick stuff. I took the shot at about 30 yards. He was a nice bird. Didn’t weigh him but 11.5” beard 1 1/4” spurs.

The kids always want to get in the turkey pictures . I have a picture of me and my daughter every year with a turkey since she was born. So now we gotta take our annual pic! And little brother has to hop in too lol.

Thanks for looking, was a morning to remember.

That gun has a “Tight Wad” choke, throws a really good pattern. It’s killed a pile of birds I must say

Nice bird... great pic. My 870 and Tightwad choke is pretty even and consistent too... but in a 20 ga.

Very nice bird and family photo. Congratulations!

As an American I'm growing tired of our ancestors being compared to the migrants of today.
