I am hoping to sell some furs at the Fur Rondy in Anchorage next year. Does anyone know how to go about doing so? Contacts? Qualifications to do so?

Thank you for any info!

Chris

Have to be a member of ATA. Call Brian at 907 529 2590 and ask to have fur tags and paperwork sent to you. Tag fur with asking price and fill out and sign paperwork. Mail fur to Brian in Anchorage. Make arrangements for unsold fur. Let them keep it. Send to Fairbanks for next sale. Pay to have it shipped back. Good Luck!

So you don't put the asking price on it actually..you put a realistic starting bid...key word realistic starting price. Guys put 500 on a wolf...and that just doesn't work...start at 250 so it can be bid up.
I started a raw mink at 5 and it went for 21...so again be realistic.
Brian is good at texting and getting me tags and form in mail.

PM if you need specific info, Chris

I would not put a minimum on there below your reasonable low acceptable asking price. Gambling things will be bid up can backfire. Stuff will sell at your minimum at a less successful sale.

P.S. Don't forget to figure in your 12% ( I believe) commission.

Like Dirt stated, put want you want on your fur. If the self appointed "fur graders" of S.C. don't like your fur or your price. They just won't even get it on the stage. The deemed S.C. "fur graders" of the auction are trying to establish auction prices for everyone but themselves.

isnarewolves Everything goes across the stage at least once no matter what the price. If the fur is crap we put it on the thirds table and it gets the trappers minimum bid.

59 Trappers turned in items
1073 Items turned into auction
134 Items unsold
88% of items sold at Fur Rondy.
Unsold items consisted primarily of skulls, and high-value wolf, wolverine, and lynx.

SCCATA set a record this year as far as $$$, a lot of happy trappers.

We would be more then happy for you to come down here and give us some pointers on how to do things better.

Chris, rosscoak and Dirt are spot on in what they say. Set realistic minimums, the crowd loves to bid things up but if starts at a high price we hear crickets. Shoot me a message if you want more details.
