Who is planning on going to the western this year? Hoping there might be a place for my camp trailer there.

Pretty good camping in salmon at the fairgrounds as I rec. rolled thru their last year.

I thought the western was in Nevada this year. Salmon is in Idaho. Several hundred miles from Elko.

Yup, Nevada. I was asked to do a beaver demo but had to turn it down.

Do they even have beaver in Nevada??? LOL

There is plenty of room to camp, however there are not any water or power hookups for camp trailers. We are hosting at a big indoor rodeo arena. Lots of room where they put folks with live in horse trailers for rodeos all the time! Gunna be great! Hope to see all of you there!

NTA Western convention, put on by the Nevada Trappers Assoc. June 6 - 7 at the Horse Palace in Spring Creek, NV. Just 10 miles outside Elko, NV at the base of the Ruby Mountains. Lamoille Canyon is nearby for a side excursion into the Ruby Mountains, Nevada's Tetons. There are motels in Elko; resturants in Elko, Spring Creek and Lamoille, some of them have the best grub you'll ever eat.

As an aside, there are lots of beaver in Nevada. We even have giant otter.

wws - sorry I won’t be at the western NTA. Due to health issues, my traveling days are over, especially long distances.

Sure would like to be able to attend conventions and fur sales - I miss seeing all the friends I’ve made over the years.

The Western is in Nevada. The Idaho Trappers are having a summer get together in Salmon, Idaho the 13th and 14th of June. The dates are close together.

Elko Nevada is a nice place to visit.Garcia saddlery and a good mexican restaurant just to name a couple places I know about there.

Anyone know if Pete Shepherd is going to be there ?

I hate to break it to you, Ken, but Pete passed away about a year ago. One of the great ones, gonna miss him. Lois is in Hawaii with a daughter.

Slick Pan do you recall the name of that restaurant?

They have a awesome museum there also, and very helpful Les Swab tire store.
We went to a Nevada trapper's convention some years back.
Pulled the camper and blew two tires on it, and lost a lug nut cover on the truck
and they just put one on for me no charge.
And alot of mine history there also, along with present day mining.

That Lamoile canyon is beautiful.

The Star basque restaurant should be on everyones to do list. Have a pecon punch or 2 don't do 3 unless you have a driver. The steak sandwich at lunch and the lamb at dinner.
