I checked some of my other sources tonight. Lodge poling is usually a form of punishment. It is rarely used as a verb for, um, marital relations. I'll leave it at that.

in so many ways , AI can be a decent finder for documents but it does not read them well

AI will lay out a set of instructions in a synopsis , and the first instruction is literally what the actual document tells you NOT to do

I have caught Google AI in so many mistakes I no longer use it, I just scroll right by to actual websites with articles. I see where Google now includes a warning at the bottom of it's AI nonsense:

"AI responses may include mistakes."

Eh...wot?

References to all the trappers that came before us has always interested me. Trapping where they trapped has always been something that makes my imagination run wild. The first Clifton to go west hunted buffalo in the Lamar area. (Bents Fort) My great grandfather farmed near Wiley CO. My dad was born there. My grandad moved his family to western Fremont county when my dad and uncle were very young.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

There are several good books and journals from trappers in that area. The Southwest trade, which is where that would fall, quickly moved from beaver to bison robes and horses/mules from California. The Spanish, then Mexican government played a huge role in how trappers operated in the area.

My dad grew up in Pueblo, had a friend in middle school that trapped the Arkansas for muskrat and beaver.
