Too close to the end of the board

Move all 4 of those screws to the left about 3/4 "

Angle in from there

pre drill and stop putting them in the same grain
stagger them vertically so that they all hit different grain

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

this is why they sell drill and driver combos

drill for the hole , driver impacts the screw in

pre drill and soap or wax for added bennifit

also stop putting screws in line , the army got you wanting to line stuff up in order
don't , is there any reason you couldn't move that bottom screw an inch to the right? would it still catch the board behind it ?
