Do you guys fillet out the cheek meat in the bigger eyes?

We consider it a delicacy in my family.

Eh...wot?

Yes, the cheeks are good... If you like fish with white meat, northern pike is pretty dam good. If you catch a nice northern and walleyes the same day, compare them at your fish fry. Betcha you'll be keeping more northerns in the future

I've eaten plenty of northerns and they're pretty darn good. They are a bit harder for me to fillet than walleye, seems like they have more bones.

Eh...wot?

Due to the extremely low limit and crazy slots near me, I have quit targeting walleye. 3 fish but only one over 24 and the other two must be between 15 and 18. Or 3 kept 15 to 18. Its not worth the time and effort to chase them, many other fish have ample bags and liberal size limits if any at all, plus if cut into nuggets and fried with perch, bass, bluegills and crappie youd be hard pressed to tell the difference in flavor. Its all marketing wink Walleye are over rated for flavor, have no fight, and dont bite readily, if they do you are done fishing before you have time to enjoy it.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.
