I got two of those out in my yard. One is actually one my grand father and my dad had used. The other was given to me by one of the farmers who's land I hunted and trapped for m a ny years.
Been 50 years since either was actually used. I did use the one from my grandfather for a time. Last time I was going to use one I couldn't find the leathers. Did some research and taught myself how to make them. The flat bottom valve isn't to hard. The cup for the plunger is a bit of a trick. Im guessing guy could probably get an Amish to make them. Their decorations now.

Had one at a grounds we used to rent for weekend bashes in the 70's through the 80's. It was the only source of water and worked great

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

I remember pumping one of those as a kid to get a drink. By the time I got enough water to fill the metal cup, I needed 2 or 3 more for the work I had to do to get the first cup. smile
That was the best drink of water I have ever had.

I remember the park/fairgrounds in Gilman, WI had one that was a bubbler to drink out of, you'd pump it up and have about 30 seconds to let go and get a drink before having to pump it back up. If you had a buddy with you could take turns pumping and drinking, but if you gave a good fast pump at just the right time, you could get enough pressure to shoot water of of your buddy's nose... good times.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.
