If I was buying one it would be new with a warranty or return policy of some kind. I'd watch aquachigger on youtube where he finds lots of things and teaches you lots of sounds. He uses Garret. Lots of videos with the AT Pro or is it the Max which is what I have always looked at and its nice b/c you can watch him use it and get the hang of it. But there is the new one out now that he is starting to use and it seems like that may be the way to go. He is finding lots of things he wasn't with the other one. Anyway thats what I'd get and I look at them on Amazon. They used to be about the same money. I wouldn't spend $500 on one used but thats just me I guess.

It is a good detector, but. Look around on line. If your budget is in the $500 range you should buy this. You’ll have everything you need and an excellent detector that is new and has a warranty.
