Wonder why Isreal doesn't have a bomber like the B-2 to deliver the 30,000 penetrator needed to reach Iran's deep nuclear bunkers.
Just curious why the US hasn't sold a couple to them. We sell everything else they use.

Considering almost all of Israel's immediate threats are already on their doorstep a LONG RANGE bomber is kind of wasted. Now heavy lift bomber, that might be useful. I wonder if they got some of those palletized bombs that can be kicked out the back ramp of a C130? Now that would useful getting two things done with a less expensive cargo hauler.

A few daisy cutters could make a few parking lots for Iran pretty quickly.

Israel appears to have gotten all of Iran's major air defenses and can pretty much hit them at will. Israel had over 200 manned aircraft over Iran and thousands of drones and Iran just reported it only hit two of them.

It's not really there combat doctrine.
As a whole they prefer smaller surgical type attacks. MOSAD and the like. Like that one time someone got a flash drive with a virus into Irans nuke plant and sent them back like a decade..

Why spend money on a heavy bomber when you can have operatives do as much damage with a few pounds of semtex. Not to mention with you can just use drones and do what the Ukrainian did a week or so back and completely cripple parts of a military on the cheap

Honestly looking back .. the use of heavy bombers and bombing campaigns hasn't been the most effective thing since WWII.

US could take a page from Israel when it comes to destroying ur enemies and winning a war. The memories of the holocaust might be a motivation

That has been the key since the last half of WWII, air superiority. If you control the skies and can come and go at will the other guy is FUBAR.

I'm kind of surprised at what appears to be an easily won total take down of Iran's air defenses. Us cold warrior's remember when the first stage was taking down the early warning radars and SAM sites and any interceptors thrown up before you can even get to the real targets. I don't quite understand how all that got swept aside so easily. I know they infiltrated in operatives to hit those things at close range from the ground, an almost impossible thing to stop at close range. But to take down the whole defense net? That after action report would be interesting reading.

My thought is that if Israel can so readily infiltrate the really closed up country of Iran, what has China already set up in the wide open USA?

No, it was a missile that took down Gary Powers U2. Only the SR71 Blackbird could go high enough and fast enough to avoid missiles.

Tactics for the true bombers are fast ground level entry for the B1 to try to stay below radar, pop up and release then run fast for home on the deck. This is assuming defended airspace. Or the use of standoff weapons such as cruise missiles carried in the bomb bay of the B52. And the stealth ones are to go in at night and stay stealthy.

In uncontested air space they can pretty much drop at will.

The C130 is a cargo hauler that is multipurpose, not a bomber. It got the job of bomber when they figured out how to shove one out the back ramp. One configuration is a palletized load of cruise missiles they can be shoved out at a safe stand off distance then have each missile take off off towards different targets.

It's the B52s that can carry a buttload of 1000 pounders and rain down heck but that's not really done anymore as they can't fly high or fast enough to avoid missiles. Last use of that was in Desert Storm after the Iraqi air defense was destroyed.
