Over half of the Persians in Iran and almost all the Kurds want the Islamist government of Iran destroyed. They've been meeting with Israel, the US, Great Britain and Saudi Arabi for years. They gave lists of targets they wanted taken out. They said they would take over the country if those targets were removed. Israel has been surgically precise on the targets they have hit, taking out individual apartments housing top ranking Iranians, with almost no collateral damage. I think and hope we will be seeing a successful regime change to a secular, more free Iran. This will make the entire planet safer.

I don't claim any sort of knowledge of the area and peoples but the persians are a completely different ethinic people than the arabs that conquered persia and installed islam over, I assume, zorasticism(?). Throw in the multiplcity of other ethnicitities and cultures, kurds, turkmen, jews, pashtuns, greeks, et al, that historically passed through and settled within the persian empire and one wonders if there isnt friction between the ruling mullahs and the native populations.

Iran was a great place before the revolution…….their people aren’t the issue.

Israel doesn’t ask if it’s ok to do something, ever since the end of the war. They just take action.

I've only really gotten to know one persian, he insisted he was persian, not Iranian. Dude in my platoon at basic back in 87. I always chalked it up to iran being enemy#2 behind ivan at the time but he was a second generation, parents fled when the Shah fell. Was a decent guy even if he had two left feet and got bumped from the graduation march because he never could stay in step, lol. He hated the ayatollah.

Listening to Levin and later Rita Crosby tonight. Something is going down, Trump left G7 to head back to DC.

Trump has posted for the civilians in Tehran to evacuate. He's cutting his trip to the G7 short to head back to DC. The situation room is staffed and ready. The carrier Nimitz, our oldest and slated for decommissioning next year, left port early, it was schedulded to leave next month, to head to the ME. Others already en route or on station, going to be three in the area.

Not sounding good.

But Iran supposedly has sent out the message, through Qatar, that they want a ceasefire and will return to the table as long as the US doesn't attack.

I pray to God this is just a huge threat to get the mullahs to capitulate because we voted for NO NEW WARS and expect Trump to keep his word and to not let Netanyahu lead him into another "regime change" fiasco.

He's one of the biggest pushing for war and had a sit down with Trump for just that purpose.

JMO, but American jews who can't set aside their ethnicity/religion to consider what's best for this country are welcome to go grab a rifle over there. Until such time as we under direct and imminent threat we need to stay out of it.

My prediction is that Israel will continue to hit targets reported to it by the Iranians wanting to overthrow the Islamists. Israel has already supplied and will supply more weapons to the Iranian Freedom.Fighters. They, along with the Kurds, will wipe out the Islamists. The Kurds will get part of Iran, probably part of Syria and only possibly part of Turkey. The Kurds will finally have a united country of Kurdistan.

The US will mostly appear to stay out of it, while supplying vast amounts of intel and weapons to the groups fighting the Islamists. The US will help shoot down drones and missiles sent at Israel, but there won't be relatively many more. Some US Special Operations units will likely be minimally involved in specific missions, on the down low.

Steve Bannon on Tucker tonight says Israel has been unable to take out the deeper buried nuclear sites becsuse they don't have our bunker busters. Hence the pulling us in.

I don't necessarily think destroying those material holding facilities is in everyone's best interest.

Tucker's apparently got, and has always had, his own agenda in this. Too many mushrooms while following the dead maybe.

Israel can fly pretty much anywhere in Iranian air space now. Any nuclear material being moved, will be seen through satellites or by the Israeli aircraft. Israel will capture it or destroy it. Around 88% of Iran's population wants a new government. Those people won't allow the Islamist to move that material either. Israel has all sorts of really excellent technology that they used on the Hamas tunnels. That same technology will be used on those buried nuclear facilities, once it's safe to approach them on the ground, probably within 6 weeks.
