That is very cool! The Ely area has a fair amount of Piebalds but nothing like that.

I have nothing clever to put here.

We also have a few piebalds around here. Few enough that I usually try to get pics of them if I can.

I never seen a total albino deer (other than pictures).

That's pretty cool.

Eh...wot?

That is very cool! We have a piebald doe that lives near our place. I could have shot her last year but there was another doe with her and I shot that one instead

Never understood not being able to shoot albinos. They are considered genetically inferior but do not shoot them. We have so many white deer of different variations around here they may start outnumbering the brown ones.

I agree, it's stupid.

It's interesting that Wisconsin doesn't protect melonistic deer, just white ones.

Not shooting...is that an actual law or a general practice?

Read a story once where albino deer were considered poisonous, which is absurd....

It's the law in Wisconsin and a few other states.

I saw the deer on Tuesday morning but didn't get a picture. I told my buddy about it the same day. He was driving by the area this morning and got the pic. I've never seen anything like it, either. Really cool my buddy found the deer exactly where I saw it at exactly the same time of day.

I thought it was legal to shoot piebald deer in Wisconsin, but not albino deer... Or is it illegal to shoot piebald deer here too??

Only albino deer are protected in Wisconsin as far as I know. Piebalds are legal game. Some states protect piebalds though.

IMO. protecting any of them is dumb.

It's all about protecting livestock, which makes no sense, plenty of brown cows out there.

I heard it was because of their rarity and their cultural significance to native Americans.

One of the funniest things I ever saw was an albino doe flattened in the open "hiding". Saw her and her fawn?(both albino
) in separate sightings 3 days apart south of Hannibal 20 years ago.
