Yeah, seems that way. I’ve heard it both ways growing up. Was just wondering. The boys caught a bunch of them the other night.

If you’re not calling it a firefly, at least act like you’ve seen one and spell it correctly. It is “lightning”, not “lightening”

Lightning bug , when we were kids we would catch them .
When we had a jar full , we would squish them and spread them on our forehead, so we would glow !
My mother didn’t like us doing that :-)

I thought it was cool when I did it as a kid, my kids loved it, and so did the grandkids

Fixed the spelling error for you, I apologize for any dishonor I placed on the beetle in question.

I call them a firefly. Wife calls them lightning bugs. We have them all over the place here.
