any wolfers out there painting traps or dipping in Rustoleum acetone mix? I have some pretty rusty traps that have been dipped in fmj and had anti freeze sprinkled over them. Im thinking of dipping in Rustoleum acetone mix -then let em bake in the sun a week or so then dip a few times in fmj .I can clean 3 traps at a time in my concrete mixer with water gravel mix but its very noisy and time consuming about 3 hours I wish I had a giant air compressor and a sand blaster. so if you have any ideas on how to clean rust off traps your experience and opinions appreciated.

if your lucky enough to live in the BIG woods your lucky enough

Once you get rid of the FMJ you can place the traps in a vinegar bath and that will remove the rust. Once you remove them from the vinegar rinse them well.
I would forget about the FMJ and just do the paint dip.

A good bud of mine is happy with that mix but he’s more of a coyotero than wolf. The last couple years I just use Dakota Line with a quick splash of FMJ. The ones I did a couple seasons ago are still good. I bought 10 new MB750s for cheap last winter and just stuck em in the snow as is untreated. Some of them connected. After a few months of use I treated them with the ole Dakota Line & FMJ then adjusted the tension, rubbed a bit of wax on the jaws/leavers and they’re sitting in the shed ready for winter.
You’re going to want some kinda treatment after what ever you use to die. Wax rocks but FMJ works good so far for me too. Keep in mind the wax will pick up scents while hanging. In Montana you got crazy freeze/thaw conditions, be it wax, FMJ or something like it….you’ll want something on it.
