Guys, I’m just curious and wondering about other’s thoughts about cremation as far as the belief in Christian resurrection.
I’ve looked and tried my best to research it, and I can’t seem to find anything that supports nor condemns cremation.
Only places I have found , deals with king Saul and the bodies of his sons , who were killed in battle…
There bodies were retrieved and then cremated because the bodies were mutilated…
The other was achan and his family (he was looting when it was specified no looting was allowed after the destruction of jerhicho).
I can’t find any information that supports nor condemns it.
I guess if GOD can make a man out of the dirt, he’d have no problem restoring an individual from ashes.

Stand by your principles, Stand by your guns, and victory complete and permanent is sure at last.

Nothing forbids it or says it is a sin. HE will raise your Soul no matter how decomposed the body . You came from dust , and to dust you will return. The Soul lives forever.

the Catholics were opposed to it until maybe 20 years ago

they then decided that cremation and burial of the cremains on sacred ground was sufficient , they were running out of ground

don't want you spread at your favorite fishing hole.

seems like the best idea to me cremation , it runs 995 plus a 250 dollar cremation license here and that depends on county. then they get you for removing the body from your house , transport , expect it to be way to expensive all the way around.

I still think it would have been a great business to go into. Watch the Mortician on MAX. Personally, I'm getting cremated. I believe a young industrious person could make money advertising to have ashes shipped to them, go make a nice video with funeral music in the back ground dumping ashes in a flowing stream or other outdoor scene. Send the video back to the family and charge them an arm and a leg.

The vision of dry bones which were scattered all over were brought back together. Implying future restoration of Israel.
God must know where every bone is and where it fits. Don't you think God kills two birds with one stone? I mean if a bear eats you, then the bear gets a meal and you get to wear that fur coat you always wanted.

Support your local taxidermist and have grandma stuffed and you can stand her in a corner. You could have your own in house work done here, Smasho needs the experience.

Maybe mummified would be the way to keep dear old mummy ! It would at least give the Mark Twain's something to write about.

Cryonics might be the way to go if you have some trusted friends to be sure and keep the freezer plugged in. Maintenance could be expensive, but hey death and taxes are sure and they both are going to cost you, lol !

Agree on Catholic position above.

My kids are under strict orders to have the Priest bless a brush pile on my place, throw my body on the brush pile and then burn the brush pile.

As far as I am concerned there is nothing against it in the Bible

When I go they can salvage what they can and burn the rest.
I will have no further need for it, nor will I care.

If you believe God created the universe then it is no problem for Him to round up some ashes to put you back together wink

my outdoor wood burner had done a great job geting rid of things. my German Shepherdas last winter when the ground was frozen for example.

I guess if you don't mind more wood ash than human ash and can make it legal with the state. I can toss you all in for $699 and the Amazon box I put the ashes in I will throw in for free.

The Jews had rules/,traditions about how bodies are handled.

Really the only relevant things for Christians would be honor your father and mother and don't create idols so do what they ask and don't turn the urn into a shrine

oh dude , the paper work around death is nuts

my wife passed at 11:15 to 11:20 at 12:47 they got a declared time of death.
there are rules about everything , don't die in the shirt you wanted to pass on to your kids , you can not have the garments a person died in back or if you do make sure they get it off you before the funeral home shows up.
only funeral home staff licensed can move bodies

the county issues a cremation license and it defines the crematorium

$$$
at every step of the way everyone has their hand out well sort of , the funeral home compiles it all and you write one check

also you don't burn down to ash , what is left is mostly bone , they don't actually burn , they get really brittle , then they run you through a grinder and if you intended some of the ashes to go into something other than the ern and they have lots of options , they have to grind you a few times. so you don't have bigger chunks of bone.

the check I wrote to the funeral home for all of it was $6157.00 that was taxes , oh yeah sales tax on top of all the other taxes. that was with the discount for not making them wait for the insurance company to pay.

then you get to start mailing death certificates places , the paperwork seems endless and I know how much she got ready for me to simplify this all.

Hopefully Smasher will come up with a price list soon. Maybe if a few of us would go together we could get a discount rate ?

Cremation here is around $250 + any extras you want. Just about what SSI payout is.
I googled it once and wiki says cremated remains can't get into heaven.

In WI is matters what county you die in , some counties don't like to work with each other.

last year when my old scout master died his wife didn't know where to send him. one of the guys I was in scouts with runs a funeral home but he is 2 miles over the county line from the county he died in.
extra 300 dollars transfer fee.
on the flip side he could cut her a better deal on the minimal services and save that 300 back for her.

northern counties hate Dane county so if you are transferring from some of them it can cost up to 900 dollars to transfer.

Catholics WERE against it.. they've gotten over it, but....they still insist you're interred in a Catholic cemetery... cause they can charge you, lol

My brother came in a plastic bag in a cardboard box....they sent a guy with a posthole digger to drop him in....seems that it used to be only so many bodies could be stacked in a family plot, but with cremains you can effectively triple the amount....

The ancient Hebrews went through great pains to ensure someone got a proper burial. To include prayers for them.

Pass on the pagan practices.

No rules here except for the keeping of the remains in one type of storage, urn, box, what ever, never bothered to ask my Mom if she was worried about being brought back up, she just said it was cheaper LOL

Every time the guy talked there was a price coming out of his mouth for something, moving fee for body, storage fee for body, special container for moving the body to the furnace area, cost of transport asked what do they do with the containers carrying them in a vehicle, oh just wash them out and reuse, said I wish to have it for a plantar, sorry law won't allow it. The did provide small vials if you wish to carry her ashes around with you, was a pretty snazzy bottle, we never got any though.

Got her back in a nice small box, doubt it was all of her, as we decided to place her in a mausoleum space, which was about 12 inches square, box was expensive as well, the whole matter cost almost 8 grand, thats pretty expensive compared to the totals I've read here.
Was glad the guy stopped talking about it getting done, this was 18 years ago now, can't imagine what that place would charge now !

Cremation was condemned by Christianity at one time because it was associated with pagan practices.

Why can’t i burn my families remains f they are naturally deceased?

What are the consequences? Fine? Jail? I bet native Americans an do it free of any crime.

I would have no problem stoking the fire all night.

Well I don't see how it would make any difference to the Good Lord. However, if your missing something in the reading and it's a unpardonable sin at least you'll be preheated.lol

lobbyists for the funeral industry , they convince law makers of things they don't want to think about so they go along with it as a "best practice"

I can’t find any information that supports nor condemns it.
I guess if GOD can make a man out of the dirt, he’d have no problem restoring an individual from ashes.

I thought it was just heat exhaustion……..

Heard a thing about being “ composted”. Seemed affordable and green but I sure by my time comes they’ll control the cost of it also. But maybe by then there might be a good market for “parts”’ lol

The Indian platform is what I want. I don't think the local ordinance is going to allow me that.

You want cheap?, donate your carcass to a medical school, after they're done playing with you they cremate anything left and give it back to your family...all free of charge!...

Totally agree with you. I prefer to remember the person as they were when they were alive, not how they looked in a box.

We are living in a world where the intelligent must be quiet so that the no common sense people won't be offended.

In 1972 5% of people in the USA were cremated upon death. Currently the rate is now just shy of 60%. There are a whole host of reasons for this I would guess. My wife and I have decided to be cremated, but we have not put together our plans other than that as of yet. Two people I know well, 5 years younger than me just recently passed away. I got to get a plan together.

One thing for sure , if GOD won't put you back together to let you into Heaven , he probably won't do it to send you to Hades.

What about non-biblically? Your family's thoughts?

A friend of mine had one of his hunting buddies die of cancer. The group of hunting buddies visited with him in hospice before he died and between the four of them decided to take possession of his ashes and reload it all in to 12 ga shotgun shells. After he was gone they boated out to a river bend beach, had a big bonfire, got rip roaring drunk and shot his ashes out over a private property owners place that had never given them permission to hunt!

Don't know what it cost them but I say that was a beautiful tribute.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!
