Sleepy Joe and all the other idiots ranting about switching everything to electric cars, electric cook stoves and ovens was just a BS ploy!!!! during that time frame they continued and still continue to award grant money to folks from India, Pakistan and other folk from that area of the world to build and maintain GAS STATIONS, they keep building them left and right but you darn sure dont see electric vehicle charging stations. There are more foreign owned truck stops and gas station/convenience stores than there are churches down here and that is dang sure saying something.

I will cook on an open fire before i switch to all electric. The infrastructure doesnt exist to do such a thing. Deer season year round and raise your own garden.

Someone built/completed an EV charging station in the WinnDixie grocery store parking lot about 18 months ago in Lake Park, Ga. It has about 10 or 12 chargers. It is full of EVs everytime I drive by it...but Interstate 75 is only about 2 or 3 blocks away so interstate traffic utilizes it.

even at Buccees I dont see but a few vehicles using those chargers. and they are about 1/1000th the number of gas pumps available.

we arent getting away from oil, coal and natural gas. these all electric folks are freaking delusional. without nuclear power, there is no way that those wind contraptions or solar will ever power anything. Its absolutely insane to think that it would.

Gas and diesel for me.

Ask any classic cah owner how they feel about keeping their GTOs, Mustangs, and the others ....

Whoever wants electric anything , fine . Just remember where electricity comes from.

It has never been about caring for the climate, Dave . Like everything else, they just use surface excuses to make money for themselves . Look at how much they use fossil fuel themselves. It's all about power and money. Every time.

Enjoy your V8 !

They've even developed small ones the size of a pad mount transformer. Now imagine a small nuclear reactor in peoples front yards!....lol

where are there any nuclear power plants operating???

these folks are slap arse nuts. I guarantee you if we were to just stroll up into all of their many houses and getaways, I bet both testicles that they are mostly fueled by LNG or propane.

Furthermore, who in Sam Heyull flies as many miles as these two faced twirps do, in any given year. I guarantee you, those of us on this forum, if we added our flight mileages down for an entire fiscal year. We wont come close to how much these so called climate activists fly. freaking lying arse hypocrites. and, I would be willing to bet both of Savells testicles that most of their insider trading stock options are in fossil fuels.

Wood is the only truly renewable energy source, and only if new trees are being grown at the same rate as the trees being used for fuel.

As uncle Ted said.....the industrial revolution and it's consequences have been a disaster for the human race.

Exactly right, Dave.

Too many people don't know or forget where electricity comes from. Big Bob mentioned the best, cleanest and cheapest , most powerful source known .

Electricity also comes from other sources. All fossil fuel oriented.

The materials that make electric parts are all made with fossil fuels too. Every one of them.

Tell China and India to stop going full bore on building new fossil fuel plants across their country.

Its like thinking a cake appeared finished out of thin air , forgetting the ingredients and work it took to make it to begin with.

Nuclear is one big key. I hope to see more plants in the near future.

Wind, hydro and solar, heyull, that wouldnt power a crock pot for 30 minutes. these folks are nuts. we should be hunting them down and burning them at the stake with a thick glass objective when the sun is out. then we can say they died because of clean sunshine energy

I like the chart Mike shared. I don't know the percentages , but that one seems about right. I smile looking at solar....the panels mostly made in China, with their many many fossil fuel plants to make them all.

Same with wind, all fossil fuels and when they leak oil, stop working due to cold winter, etc., the parts are non-biodegradable. Plus killing birds . If anyone shot them, , would bring long jail times and large expenses in fees. But the ugly wind farms can kill them in the millions.

I do like Hydro , when I lived in HI, that source was popular , but limited.

All powered, built, and made possible by fossil fuel.

Dave, America has a huge wealth of fuel , and with the building of more resources to process them, and kicking in the existing ones, I'm not worried anymore.

Nothing like my V8 and the low rumble of glass packs wink

They been telling on the news the last couple nights that as soon as AI kicks in full speed there won't be enough electricity to go around. That really only means the price is going up to ration it out.

I think where the mistake was made was not letting the electric cars and solar and wind work its way in gradual like they worked in tractors when switching from mules. If electric wind and solar was efficient then the free market would have been the driving force and would have worked in with no unknowns. The way they shut down the pipe lines and started force feeding the electric cars on people wasn't workable in a free market system. But i guess Greta and the Rainman had car production on the way and needed a market. Now they are all dressed up and no where to go. But I guess the lithium will keep somewhere, maybe Fort Knox, lol !

Just me but I would rather finish out my days next to a solar and/or wind farm than next to Chernobyl or Fukushima !
Paducah enrichment plant had contamination problems for years. But those southwest winds in the winter are very refreshing, lol. Maybe as refreshing as farm chemicals in our food and water.

It kinda makes me wonder about the fact my great, great grandpa carried a mini ball in his hip for years and he lived to be 92 yrs of age and his wife lived to be 90 and they both smoked a pipe. And none of my more recent family has lived past their mid 80's.

Not here. You guys gotta build more dams, cleanest power out there and you keep using the same water over and over with multiple dams. If Alberta's $ is oil, our big $ is hydro power.

if the flow of water is minimal. which is typically is. how in sam heyull do you think anything hydro is going to make energy. fossil fuels and nuclear. its that simple. Check out Thorium molten salt reactors. they can be run on the waste of the main reactors. No chance of a run away like Chernoby

Tech has made things harder nothing is easy to figure out now, technology does not equal to simpler it’s just more BS to figure out. The goal is to sell apps not simplify much of anything. A modern vehicle could have dozens of controls on the dashboard and apps in the systems.

My wife bought a new Subaru she had to go to a class of figure out how the tech stuff works on it and she still can’t figure it all out but she likes pushing buttons. LOL

Some folks live for that junk me I’m not wasting my days on this useless garbage.

Everyone makes a big deal about Chernobyl and 3 Mile Island. Fukishima didnt do much either. In reality, they werent near as bad as what the hysteria makes them out to be. 3 Mile had a containemtent system. When that disaster occurred, the worst you got in that area was the equivalent of a chest x ray. The problem that chernobyl had was one, it was run by people that didnt have a clue what they were doing and two, it did not have a containment vessel. Thats why the radiation there got a bit more out of hand. They were doing an experiment that they shouldnt have and things ended the way they did.

Microsoft is in the process of restarting 3 mile.

Not sure what the enviro nuts have more issues with, hydro or nuclear. They are trying get rid of dams across the country, not build them.

True, but not so much here. Look at the damage that just the footprint of a solar set up is, turbines pollute the air and kill birds.
It all depends on how much power you want. Were stretched thin as it is already, never mind adding quick chargers and all this other crap. What rolls around after a hurricane or whatever……a big cube van with a pile of phone charging station……lol. What a joke!

Just wait until a bunch of data centers are completed. We are going to need a LOT more power, and grid, than we are even close to having, right now. Nuclear will certainly be part of the solution, but even with streamlined permitting, they take a long time to build. Natural gas will be a major contributor to "new" energy, but facilities need to be built for those, as well. Tearing out dams is a terrible idea, and all that noise is mostly generated by the left.
The wind "farms" are a disaster and an eyesore of the highest magnitude. Would love to see every last one gone. Not a fan of solar panel fields, either, however with the new battery storage technology coming up the pipe, solar is, and will continue to be an important part of the future energy solution for the United States. God Bless America!

Just doing what I want now.

Any guesses how far electricity can be sent thru high voltage wire without losing a lot of it. I read 300+ miles ?

Well, northern Canada to central US is pretty far. A lot of things happen in between those points. Google NERC.
All depends on a bunch of things, there’s no set number. Type and size of conductor, the further the distance the higher the voltage you want. We convert 500AC to DC up in Gilliam then send it down to Winnipeg area to be converted back to AC to feed us and parts of the northern US. There’s less heat loss with DC as the current isn’t alternating back and forth. Our 500AC lines near me are 3 phases, each having a bundle of 1200MCM aluminum conductor with a steel core.
The more expensive the conductor, the more efficient it is, but we ain’t stringing in copper any more are we…lol. Gotta find a happy medium….cost vs efficiency. Like 4 phase would be even more efficient than 3ph, but you gotta draw the line somewhere.

Transmission lines are set up to be very efficient.

As mentioned above, generation is the bottle neck, then transformer manufacturing capacity. There are multiple manufacturers building new factories to increase transformer capacity.

Hydro has environmental impact but if very effective and clean and provides recreational opportunities.
Wind is almost dead and without government money is not viable.
Solar has potential, but long term solution it is not due to lifespan and disposal of the panels.
Nuclear is the future with Google/META/Amazon looking at small nukes just to power their data centers.

There is absolutely no way we can meet the mandated standards of EV and electric appliances with our current grid. Sounds great when some politicians are trying to save the planet, but reality we aren’t even close. Some actions are being taken to strengthen the grid but that is still 40-50 years away at the earliest and would have to increase 10 fold of what is happening today.

Nuclear power plants tooled for producing hydrogen would be nice. I think when hydrogen is used to produce energy it's emissions are only water and heat.

Grand Rapids, Michigan is expected to be one of the next big tech hubs in the country. Already a couple companies that have and/or are building more warehouses for server storage. Microsoft is currently building.

The Palisades nuclear facility is about 60 miles from Grand Rapids and is scheduled to reopen in the next two years, presumably to support all the projected power needs.

Is Hydrogen a byproduct of nuclear energy production? That would be efficient as heck to harvest that hydrogen and turn it into more power.

Rumor has it a couple of forklift companies are working on hydrogen-powered equipment. I think that’s a little crazy, but seems to be a very clean and abundant energy source.

When the president flies in an electric plane and helicopter, I will think about an electric car. Just think.

I read an article about how a lot of the charging stations are being ripped off for the plugs to your car. I'd bet somebody is using them to adapt your home electric to charge at home.

Bet the meth heads were lining up with their hack saws to harvest them.

If you're sending DC current, it doesn't go far. one of the reasons why AC(Westinghouse and Tesla) prevailed over Edison's DC. Plus the little thing about DC burning houses down every other week..

You would have to sacrifice some electricity to produce hydrogen. They use electrolysis to split water for hydrogen.
