Dogs don't care what you call them...

Cats don't care if you call them.

Three dogs now.

Gremlin, because as a pup (and even still sometimes) her ears would stand way up when she heard something, making her look like a Gremlin.

Trouble.... self explanatory.

[This word is not acceptable on trapperman] but it starts with a Pi and ends with a Y because as a pup, he could not control his bladder for more than 15 minutes.

All named after the fact... most earn their names...

The one we got now was called "Jed" when we rescued him. We kept it. He lays around like an old man Jed.

The one before was named "Lily". She was a little psychotic. I started calling her psycho and it was the only thing she'd respond to.

The one before that was a dark chocolate brown cocker spaniel with little light spots dappled around his body. My son (5 at the time) said he looked like a log. His named ended up being loggy. He was probably the best dog I ever had. He loved to chase balls and frisbees. He just didn't like to bring them back. It was like playing fetch with yourself. He was 16 when we finally had to put him down. He loved everyone. All he wanted was petted.

Had a milk cow named George when I was younger. I'd go to the barn and yell "GEORGE!!!!" and no matter where she was on the farm she'd come running. My uncle like to freak out city folk by having me go out in the field and yell for her. She'd come running full tilt across the field and stop just as she got to me. Them city folk would be spazzing out thinking I was going to get trampled.

Don’t think that day is coming any time soon but I wondered, do you all pick out names before you get your pet? Or after you get to know them!?

Both...

The most recent named pet, was because of a pet I had when I was A kid.

The wife and I were expecting a baby, and she said if it was a girl she wanted to name her Piper. I didn't care for the name, and the kids needed a dog, so I went out and found a beagle and named it Piper to effectively block the name.

Here's a couple I thought were interesting.
Two twin cats, fluff and scruff.
A pup (squirrel dog) that died way to young (Strawberry)
