Anyone coming to Lusk have a copy of “ Musk, Mysteries and Misconceptions” book they’d be willing to part with?

Long range forecast says 89 on Friday, 85 Saturday. That's tolerable in Wyoming.

50s at night

That’s great Larry, will be good to see you both!

Yes, the weather might be 10 -15 degrees cooler than it usually is, and that will be ok by me

The belt buckle is a one of a kind
Todd has been very generous over the years, and has spent a LOT of money on them in the auction

That being said Jake, it would take a pile of Looney’s and Tooneys to take one home, but being a former Canadian, I’d find a way to convert to U.S. currency…..

I’m assigning rooms to the demo guys at Trail Motel this weekend

I’ve had inquiries about rooms every day, and I’m just telling people to call the motels to see what is still available, since it’s hard to keep up with !

The Pioneer Best Western and the Townhouse motel are owned by the same local people, and if you stay at either of them, you get a free breakfast included, that was voted ‘Best breakfast in North America’, no kidding

Lusk has a great pool at the North end of town, and a nice business district.

The Quilt Shop is regionally famous, and a couple of gift shop and second hand stores on Main Street, as well as a cool hardware store that has a lot of nice Mule Deer mounts

The Stagecoach Museum is very good, and worth a few hours. The old Cheyenne to Deadwood stage line went right through this area, and a nice restored coach is there.

We’ll start setting up on Thursday afternoon, and the coffee and breakfast will be on at 6 a.m.

Se you all there!

Have a great day,

John

We always bring some American cash, but I won’t go crazy on the buckle….lol. But you never know once the auction starts. I’ve had a $900 limit in my head, but what’s another $100 eh! A minute later “sold” is heard and I’m $2500 poorer……lol. It probably should go to Monster Tom’s, he’s got a nice collection going, but I’m sure there’s others that won’t let it go for cheap!
For us, it’s best to pull cash out at the bank here instead of pulling out of a machine in the US. Get dinged hard on the rates.
By this time next Thursday, we should be west of Fargo.

I was more or less just tearing Jake

I’m just glad you are coming down to Wyoming!

Very green here still, but grass starting to cure

Fire ban still in effect, so no open camp fires

Looking forward to it John. I've only been to Devils tower, would be nice to spend a week or so and hit the western side of the state. Will have to plan a trip next summer starting in Wyoming and going up along the Rockies into Alberta.
Steven 49er is getting the books for me so I'm good!

Well, as green as I’ve ever seen Wyoming in August

Ok, a brownish shade of green….

No rain in sight, so will probably be more brownish by the time you get here

Won't be long now John

See ya in a week

Five more days boys and girls until a meeting of some of the brightest minds. Bring some money and buy some raffle tickets. The more participants the less chance O.D. has of winning lol.

Yes, there’ll be lots of nice things in the auctions !

And O.D. (Odie/Otis) is busy making stretchers, pre-orders are appreciated!

He also made another very cool chain sawed bear for the Scholarship/endowment fund auction

Ok. We’re getting close and I’ve had some more questions to address

First, I’m. Sorry, but there is literally NO fishing close to Lusk, at least not within.a short drive. Hard to believe in Wyoming, I know

And, I don’t know of any prairie dogs to shoot while you’re here. The only two dog towns that I think might be accessible right now have livestock watering closely, and ranchers won’t allow shooting by them

We got some rain last night, so it freshened the grass up a bit, and we’re fairly cool right now

We start setting up Thursday afternoon, and lots of people showing up that evening. After set up, I know our crew will be at the Silver Dollar Bar, at the north end of Main Street

Look me up and say hi if you can, but we won’t be out late, as the event kicks off bright and early on Friday!

Safe travels everyone, and see you soon

John

Looks like a little cool down for Friday- Saturday. Bring a jacket folks.

For fishing head towards the Platte and the lakes along it.
