I didn't see the bot leaving recent thread but my youngest shot a squirl just now tha he said its got a knot on its neck so I told him what it was. had him take a few pictures then i presed on it to get it to come out and got a few more pictures. then he asked me if it can be eaten and I was honest and told him I think so but in the past not knowing what it was I would have thrown it out. BUT to be sure should we keep it or toss it?

THATS where I have always been. But figured I would ask many youngsters may not know what it is and if they should or should not eat them so I figured why not make a post with pictures and ask so everyone knows.

ON one hand the feexer is full. ON THE OTHER. its just fly larva in one spot and the squirrel was looking healthy before 49 gr of lead went through it's head. SO to my thinking unless there is some type of infection from it through its body I would think SHOULD be safe to eat. BUT I'm not 100% sure. FIGURED a post would not only educate me but everyone else that sees it.

I just trim the sick looking flesh around the hole away, and it's good to go.

With all the OT you work, I'd have thought you could feed those kids something besides wormy squirrels. smile

Proudly banned from the NTA.

Ya really cuting back on that the rest of the year. Only worked 60 hrs this week . Maybe a lot for most but about 34 hr cut back for me is a big improvement I think ~ baby steps. so wormy squirrel it is. wink LOL. But I am trying to teach them not to waste things and be educated. I'm 45 and was not sure . They are 12 and 15 and will know.
