I always kinda liked it when the power went out, more in the winter when I wasn’t sweating my bum off.

Being that I'm on a well, every time the power goes out we have no water.
It reminds me I should really put in a hand operated well pump one day.....then the power comes back on and that thought leaves my mind

You need A couple phone blocks to charge your phone

Its good to keep a generator and a few gallons of fresh gas on hand.

We have outages on average once a month around here. They usually last at least four hours and often as long as twenty-four hours or more. When First Energy bought out all the smaller providers twenty-plus years ago they stopped doing the line maintenance. We are all paying the price for that now.

I don't know of anybody in the area that doesn't have a genny. Many have had whole-house units installed.

We don't get them quite as often as you, but enough that we finally sprung for a whole house generator. Seeing a lot of them around here now.

It shocks me when you roll into a rural yard after they’ve been out for 1/2 a day following a storm and they’re panicking.
“You mean you don’t have a genny?” At least to run a sump pump or something important. Crazy.
The utility in your area that bought out the others might be trying to save a buck on OT too. They’ve talked about that here, letting single or less than 5 out until the morning. But it’s doesn’t fly when it’s a VP or director that’s out…..lol. So far so good though, they’ll send us out to a flickering lights or even low wire/powers on calls no matter what time. The odd time it turns out to be high voltage, but usually a comms line dangling low. Too much liability if someone got killed and they saw the call but failed to dispatch in a timely manner.

just plug your car charger into the power jack at the top left we will use it to charge phones in the tent for a long weekend easily

also handy if you need a jump because you left the door open too long too many times while camping , the charger is built in so when you have AC power just plug an extension cord into it and it charges.

Generac is your friend. Mines hooked up to free gas so my well still works.
