I have a chance to pickup about 20 victor 3N traps. 10 are cast jaws and 10 are steel jaw. Trap are in excellent condition with correct chains.
No government stamps on any. Any ideas on the value of these? Thanks

I've been seeing cast jaw 3Ns selling for around the $20 mark so long as they are in good shape with stout springs. I can't comment on the steel jaws, haven't seen any for sale.

i think all 3N's are cast. the others would be regular 3's.

There is a 3N R (regular jaw) made to be used with early clamp on-rubber jaw inserts. The clamp-on rubber would not fit over the malleable jaws, so they made some regular hook-ins that fit the 3N frame. These traps had same chain & links as a 3N M (malleable jaw). I have several 3N Rs that were used in field tests by ATCo.

I will be putting feature articles in the NATCA "TRAPS" magazine over next year or so. Join and receive the publication for this kind of information on Gov't/research traps.

There will be a chapter with pics on every version of 3N & 4N.

I remember the later version of the 3N. Everything the same except regular steel off set jaws.

I had a few of the steel jaw version that I purchased in “trapper lots” years ago … don’t see too many.

IWM Thanks for the heads up on the magazine and your info… I enjoy your insight on the research and other wolf trapping info
