Asphalt plants often close when temperatures go below 50F because colder temperatures make the chemical process less effective. Is it below 50F there? We've been going down to the low 40s at night.

32 degrees and rising for asphalt. Small private jobs I’ve seen it put right over snow.

You gotta be double tough to haul asphalt. Never know when your going to quit for the day. Something goes wrong you go home early. Usually dawn to dark. In construction zones full of four wheelers in a big hurry for no good reason, Mad the road was in bad shape but mad now they are inconvenienced. Ignore all the signs and love to cut off the trucks trying to get in. Sometimes follow the truck into the work area then mad cause they love to follow somebody just mindlessly driving.

Yep. Double tough.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

I’m not tough enough to haul asphalt. I was only aware of the issues because of the number of trucks calling the stone yard looking to cop some work. We have the gravy train of maintaining the stock levels that go into the mix. lol
