Who has used ambush dye and wax and what are your thoughts good and bad ? Did it hold up well ? If you’d rather not say the bad on here please pm me I’m thinking about giving it a try but wanted to hear from somebody that had actually used it.

It's more like a cross of paint and FMJ. It holds up pretty well. Just expensive.

I used Ambush last year and I’m using it this year. This is just my experience with it.

It is expensive, but quick. I dip the whole trap, chain and drag.

I have about 8 dozen No BS Extremes. Most have chain and drag, some have super stakes ground anchors. The traps come with a good coating from No BS. The coating wears off over time. I have traps from seven years old to new ones. I dipped them all, new and old.

I used to dye and wax the old traps that lost their factory coating each summer. I’d just wax the traps that still had the coating.

The Ambush lasted much better than wax alone. I set, pulled, moved and reset my traps for about 8-10 months. I do full time predator control on Central Texas. I don’t change traps when I have a catch. I reset it.

When I pull a trap, it may get reset on the same ranch or another ranch. Or I may take it home and lay it out on a cement slab next to my barn. I’ll wash these traps off with a hose spray nozzle or power washer. I’ll use these traps to set the next ranch. Set, reset, move, clean, move and set. Over and over.

I didn’t re-dip any traps last year. By the end of the 8-10 months, the Ambush was worn off in places. Some traps more than others. But I would have had to re-wax the traps multiple times in the past.

I saved many hours of re-waxing over the year. It was a big time saver for me. My plan this year it to just take my traps and dip them after I power wash them. One and done.

NOTE- I tried it on some snares. It worked on snares with non-mechanical locks. Like smoothie and mini pro locks. It gummed up the death blow cam locks. I had to throw the locks away after dipping them in Ambush. Just FYI.

From reading the info it sounded like it was a type of floor wax with pigmentation added.

I think that’s about right. Floor wax and pigment.

I have used full metal jacket in the past. It worked fine. FMJ is pretty much floor wax too.

I tried Zeppelin high traffic floor wax, but it was too soft for my liking. It did not make a hard enough coating on my traps.

Just my experience with it.

FMJ has a hardener which makes it slightly different than floor wax

Ambush is more like dipping in thinned rustoleum paint. Ive used it for a couple years. Beaver footholds, bodygrips & support stands, beaver snares with microlocks/slim locks/small washer locks, and snare supports.

It is a bit costly, but for what it does and how well it holds up...I feel it's worth it. I have only used the brown color, but will be using the black soon on beaver footholds and bodygrips for better concealment in this black water.

It rubs off about like paint-dipped traps do in this sand down here.

I have not used it on land footholds as I use wax only on them.

I dipped a couple #5 DLS for beaver and it’s ok. I only dipped one coat and the traps can take a beating sometimes. Only thing I don’t like is the little jug and the bloody price. I bought two of them at about $27US a quart up here. I didn’t read anything about diluting it and a couple quarts ain’t much. I ended up just brushing it on as there’s not enough to dip anything.
