Someone wasn't paying attention driving. He probably won't even get a ticket, since that's private property, not just because he's a cop.

What's the back story?

Don't know yet, happened about sundown.

This is the same dept that gave one of it's own a pass on shooting his wife in the head. She survived, no memory.

The more concerning thing is where it is and the fact that car had to be moving to do that much damage

Glad it was not a pedestrian there in that location

Officer needs fired

watching the laptop and not the road , is my guess , it causes a significant % or police accidents

go figure , texting and driving , who woulda thunk it could cause accidents

For the life of me I can't figure out how he got up enough speed. As that is directly off a turn into the lot from West McIntosh/92. You can see it just behind in one of the photos. It also doglegs right then left and is almost always busy with traffic. Everyone in the county knows that turn. But Griffin popo does whatever it wants to do.

We got a good sheriff and sheriffs dept but Griffin city cops is dirty and the courts ain't much better.

At a local dealership, my wife wanted to trade in her 2016 Murano for a 2021 Murano that she fell in love with. We had just put new Michelin tires on her old 2016. I told the salesman she would take the 2021, but only if they switched the tires. They agreed. One of the service people while pulling the 2021 into the shop hit one of their concrete posts. $12,000 worth of damage. She ended up buying another 2021 Murano with 8,000 less mileage and they knocked off $700 for the inconvenience and they did the tire switch.

Being old is when you don't care where your spouse goes, just a long as you don't have to go too.

a LOT of guys tool boxes have been crashed into at service shops.

back in 1996 we were not allowed to let customers pull in to the shop at all

if they parked right outside the door , we had to pull the car in , Penske corporate made us have little yellow plastic chains up to discourage access at each of the overhead doors any time it was open and we weren't actively going in or out.

I got rear-ended by a 17 year old girl last Nov who never hit the brake she claimed to have , she hit the gas harder , it happens all the time foot slips off brake and gets gas
or foot covers both , I have caught myself getting both brake and gas at the same time , the harder you press the brake the more you are pressing the gas , pedals are not that far apart and I have HUGE feet.
knowing what is happening and having started slowing down early enough gives you time to get off move left and get back on just the brake.

doubling down on more brake only pushes the gas harder.

you would think for all the traction control and braking add-ons and safety stuff , applying the brake and gas at the same time would cancel the throttle input above say 1500 rpm , I mean if your looking at what might be an easy to do safety feature
traction control already works like this if the wheels slip and has a button on the dash to turn it off fast on most cars and trucks for when you need to spin a bit

pulling out of a boat launch is one place I start with the brake on left foot and give it throttle then ease out on the brake but 1500rpm and or a button to turn it off would be fine.

then again these are seldom loss of life events to more money to the collision industry is all.

You would be surprised , this happens more often than you think.
I've worked on and driven many police cars. Over time , you meet everyone in the trade , I used to know the mechanic who worked directly for the police , I knew the body shop were the crashed police cars are taken , knew the guys who towed the cars there.
This happens a lot.
Think about it , these cars are being pushed to their limits and beyond. They are driven in places that off-roaders would avoid.
Also , just because you may be a great LEO , doesn't automatically make you a great driver.

A lot of police wrecks are kept quiet as they can because your average taxpayer would have a fit seeing a brand new $50k-$70k squad car/SUV destroyed. Their insurance must cost a bunch.

I know they get driven hard and put up wet but it's the dumb stuff I the taxpayer hate. Running over the speed limit without cause, stupid accidents like that, joy riding and use of property for personal use. You know the kind of crap that would get me or you a date to see a judge.

But we gotta got back the blue, dont you know.
