Anyone have experience with Moyles for tanning black bear? I've been happy with their previous work for me on bobcat and coyote, but I've not heard anything about them with bear. Thanks!

They do excellent work on bears.

I have had black and brown bears done by Moyles. All were done very nicely.

You will have to specify to them whether you want "taxidermy tan" or "garment tan". There is a difference; if you try to put a garment tanned skin on a taxidermy form you will have trouble setting the eyes, lips, and other facial features, and a taxidermy tan would be a big dissapointment if you want a nice supple leather.

I don't believe they do garment tan on bears any longer. The taxidermy tan is still pretty nice. I would not hesitate to sew with the bear hide they did taxi for me.

I have two bears done by Moyles, both turned out fine, one I know I had taxidermy tan and I think (not sure) I just went regular garment tan. No problems and they last good too unlike some tanneries I tried in the past

Been using them for years, from small furs to buffalo hides. Never had a problem.
