uncleduck OP trapper U Joined: Feb 2007 NM	Anyone have experience with Moyles for tanning black bear? I've been happy with their previous work for me on bobcat and coyote, but I've not heard anything about them with bear. Thanks!

waggler trapper W Joined: Jan 2008 Alaska and Washington State	You will have to specify to them whether you want "taxidermy tan" or "garment tan". There is a difference; if you try to put a garment tanned skin on a taxidermy form you will have trouble setting the eyes, lips, and other facial features, and a taxidermy tan would be a big dissapointment if you want a nice supple leather. I don't believe they do garment tan on bears any longer. The taxidermy tan is still pretty nice. I would not hesitate to sew with the bear hide they did taxi for me.

MTtraps trapper M Joined: Mar 2010 S.C. Montana	I have two bears done by Moyles, both turned out fine, one I know I had taxidermy tan and I think (not sure) I just went regular garment tan. No problems and they last good too unlike some tanneries I tried in the past
