"When you don't fit in at church or bars"... that was a relatable line.

The irony is that Sherman had no hatred of the South. He was an excellent general who did what was necessary to quickly bring the Confederacy to its knees, ultimately saving lives, but when he actually negotiated the last major surrender at Bennett Place, the terms were exceedingly generous to the Confederates and were ultimately rejected by President Johnson. Seriously, give this a read:

https://emergingcivilwar.com/2025/04/18/stacking-arms-sherman-botches-the-bennett-farm-surrender/

Brutal as his tactics were, Sherman wasn't looking to punish the South. His goal as a general was to win the war but he wanted to follow that with a lasting peace.

The confederacy was a bunch of poor cracker farmers that lost their jobs and work when slaves were brought in and bred like cattle slaves became the biggest commodity in the south. Then the poor sons of the south were drafted or talked into fighting for honor, left family and what little they had to fight for the rich plantation owners. While gone they lost most of what they had while the southern armies confiscated most of what they grew or had for the war effort. Lee fought one heck of a fight but lost due to attrition and lack of war materials. Grant and Sherman knew how to break the back of the south and showed them what real war felt like and brought it home to the common southern inhabitant and business owners. Not a lot has changed the rich still make the wars, taxes and laws and ask the common man to fight, pay more than their share of taxes and live under laws the rich can break without penalty.

What the name of the song. I'd like to add it to my playlist.

Funny how the yanks play the race card and false histories when the most racist places in the Republic were, and are, the northern cities.

… yeah and I don’t think the weirdo even listened to the songs as it has a defeatist theme

.. so his old rehashed memes don’t really fit in

… but we’re talking about a dude that takes his kids to homo events so it’s to be expected I guess
