Folks that were in its path. Are your oaks producing like that should? We were hit hard here. Very few acorns and their small.
Trees were stressed and still recovering i think. Also, not as many squirrels as usual. Im normally covered up with them.

Up in my part of WNC we were hammered by Hellene. We have tons of chestnut oak acorns on my place. It sounds like golf balls dropping. White oaks are spotty.

SgtC,
Live oak trees appear to be spotty on acorn production. Most were badly damaged and several toppled.

Haven't looked closely at the water oaks and laurel oaks. These were tattered badly.

Nearly all the swamp chestnut oaks and white oaks were blown over. We didnt have many of these and they were all growing mid--slope along edges of wetter bottoms. I'd estimate 90+% are laying on the ground.

What has done well post-hurricane Helene is soft mast. With the increase in sunlight thru the canopy all muscadine, persimmon, and other berry producers are loaded.

Pear trees (that I planted for the deer) were loaded.

Yep, white and red are spoty as well. Have a black chestnut that is huge that normally does well. Haven't checked it recently. But the lack of squirrels is interesting.
But they will show up at my feeders in record numbers for sure when they realize corn is out. Plus the coons.

Swamp, my persimmon trees did fine. They hit them first. I mix persimmon flavoring in with my corn to keep them happy. Buck jam is what I use. They love it. Anything to keep them in the area. Hope to arrow a doe or two and then wait for big boy during rifle.

I failed to mention the squirrels....

I just told the wife a couple days ago that there seemed to be less squirrels.

Helene hit our area pretty hard with flooding in Damascus Va, just 6 miles east of us. Most of the damage was from the torrential rains. I don't think that is something that stresses trees unless in the direct path of flood waters. We did have some wind damage also and that would stress a tree if affected but doesn't seem to be a major factor. My white oaks are covered in acorns this year.
