In Texas, the furbearer season depends on the animal and whether it's a recreational or commercial harvest: nutria have a year-round recreational season and commercial season, while beaver have a commercial season from October 1 - May 31, and all other furbearers have a commercial season from November 1 - March 31. For recreational harvest (not for sale), there is no closed season for any furbearer.

Since there is no value to Texas fur, my season is year round on coyotes, coons and possums

Pretty much the same here in WI. We have zones for water trapping, central opens Oct 25th. Dryland trapping opens Oct 15th. Otter opens Nov 1. Northern zones open sooner, southern zones open later

Our state’s season opening has been Nov 1st here for as long as I can remember. I never start though until at or around December 1st.

In my area coyote, coon, badger, skunk and weasel are open year round. Fox opens October 10 and muskrat, mink, beaver and otter open October 15. Cats open mid December. I’ll put out some rat sets October 15 for a few days to help out a landowner and get some fresh rats for coyote and cat bait. I normally start on coyotes October 20 on my local line. We are at 3750’. I’ll run until Thanksgiving then move my line down to lower elevation until about January 5-10. After that I’m after cats back up at the higher elevation until the season closes in mid February. Then beaver and rats until the end of March.

What do cats bring in Texas? I was watching a video on cat trapping by Locklear and he said he got good money for south Texas cats but I don’t remember what he called “good money”

There's a form for fur prices on here but from what I heard in north TX they go for about $70-150.

Had one southeast Texas cat bring $200 at FHA couple seasons ago.

You’re not terribly far from me. I’m going to devote a good bit of resources specifically targeting cats this year. In years past they were just incidentals.

We can trap coyotes, beavers, coons, and I think possums year round on private land. Our furbearer season runs from December 1st until February 28th. Georgia.

We open for live hold coyotes for cable restraints and footholds october 15th, everything else opens November 1st. Season ends march 31st

October but i won't put any sets out until mink season in november. then i'll get excited when it's time for fisher, bobcat, and cables.
