Looks like the start of a lot of work. I always wanted to get out and hunt Elk will probably never happen now though. I did it at 70 you can do it if you want to unless something major is stopping you. The guy I hunted with was 75 but we are in good shape for our ages.

I think he might have.
In his honor.
I have decided to give up the training wheels (compound bow) and look into getting a recurve or longbow for hunting next season.
I still fully support anyone who decides to hunt however they decide to legally hunt.
No hate for anyone. I’ll probably still hunt with a cheater bow (compound) until I get proficient enough.

maybe if we all lowered our draw weight a little this thread wouldn't be so tightly strung lol. We are down to 30# legal here. Plenty to kill a whitetail deer. Might need a touch more for them bigger rascals out west.

Me, for starters. In my opinion they have no place in archery season. I have no problem with older people, people with health issues, or kids using them but an able bodied person hunting with a scoped short range gun in archery season should be embarrassed. And they are.... have you noticed that they never include the weapon in their grip and grin photos? It's legal so the real blame falls on the states that allow it. And before you go on a rant about fancy compounds vs stick bows save your time. Are compounds easier than stick bows? Absolutely. But they have a few things in common that crossbows don't have that is essential for a true archery experience. First, you have the draw the bow without getting busted. Second, you must hold the string back. Third, you must deal with pin movement while you execute the shot. Fourth, you must practice consistently. Don't tell yourself that looking through a scope over a solid shooting rail is archery. My kids started with a crossbow when they were too young to draw a bow but by the time they were 12 they were shooting compound and have killed several nice buck with them. If you want to shoot a crossbow I have no problem with it if it's done in muzzleloader or gun season. Just don't call yourself an archery hunter! Ok... rant over lol Guess compound bows fall into that category too don't you think?
