Just curious what they are paying per MBF for black walnut logs?

Limit size of skidder to limit residual damage and header/landing restoration. No one mentioned the financial side. Getting paid on % vs. lump sum. % treat as income lump sum bid you can use depletion allowance to lower your income tax.

Here in NY # 1 Black Walnut logs are appro. $950/$1000 MBF.

Don't know that market but if I had to guess I'd say because of the end use. Black walnut goes into boards for furniture and cabinetry vs fiber for pulp or chips for engineered lumber. Down here in the pine belt we sell by the ton as the bulk of it is either pulp or chip and saw.

Used to be two ways pulp by the cord and everything else, saw logs, by mbf. Now everything gets run across the scale. Pulp would be bucked in the woods to four foot pieces. Pole still gets it's own price structuring. Saw log goes by the ton.
