Got a phone call a couple hours ago to help drag one out. Before I got there it was confirmed that the bear was dead, so I was comfortable bringing one of the boys. Emmett was a big help running the light and giving dragging and lifting instructions. [Linked Image]

Lucky that the bear was dead or that little guy would have gone in for some hand to hand combat.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I'm glad you saw this post. Emmett said "Make sure you send my friend Rob a picture of me with my bear".

I never understood dragging a bear. They are the most un-cooperative sack of dead there is. On the other hand, I have skinned and quartered dozens and hauled them out on my back. A few more, (quite a few more, actually), have been heaved into various boats. Wouldn't think of dragging a bear very far, at all.

Just doing what I want now.

He already looks like a top hand. I have little doubt the boy will have many future exploits to rival Jesse Henry and my own (now grown) Clayton Thomas.

that boy is tough if he dragged a bear out in dem shoes

I have to be so carful now not to find the poison ivy it is knee highs for me , then when I see how tore up they get from all the thorns I am glad I did the boots.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

It was only about 100 yard drag, otherwise I've quartered plenty of them if the situation dictates it.

Dressed 195. Dragged 100 yards. I gutted it before we hauled it out of there.

He knew we were going into a cedar swamp, and didn't want to flood his boots, or ruin his church shoes. Ended up staying dry after all.

I have a hard enough time translating your English, not even going to attempt your Spanish.

I shot a 200 pounder back when I was fit, I couldn't drag that trash bag full of warm lard one inch. They don't have suitable handles anywhere on them and their fur sticks to the ground like Velcro.

They didn't get to help with this one, but they were really happy that they got to stay up late to see it.

However much that bear weights imagine an equal bag filled with pudding and you have some idea of what it’s like, so there you have a 200/300/400 pound bag of pudding your trying to move

I have never see anything so limp as a dead bear

When you harvest a bear like everything the work begins. We welded up a cart we pull through the woods to make the job easier. But some circumstances that is hard to use also. Nothing easy about dragging a bear. Like said a bag full of pudding with very course sand paper attached to the bag.

Had a few difficult drags over the years, but this one is most memorable. I arrowed one off a bait that spun around 180 degrees, ran straight under my stand, and made a b-line for my pickup. Walked out and found him piled up right at my tailgate. Wish I had taken a photo but that was long before cell phones.
