So bad that Texas has to send a ranger by the name of Walker to meet with Sam Colt to get him to make a big 44 horse pistol for them.

The 32nd Alabama Infantry fought from Chickamauga to Nashville. They were the unit atop Missionary Ridge when Sherman broke out of Chattanooga. My ggg grandfather Cpl Malcom McLeod was lost in that battle, his brother Cpt Daniel McLeod was there and lost a son and son in law in addition to his brother. Matter of fact because the regiment was raised by county each company was more or less made up of kinsmen and cousins. Missionary Ridge left alot of widows in Clarke county, Alabama. They were consolidated with the 58th Alabama Infantry for the remainder of the war and finally mustered out at Spanish Fort on the Eastern Shore on Mobile Bay.

BTW, I recently learned that landmines were used by the confederacy in the battles at Spanish Fort and Blakely. They were 12 pounder shells equipped with a pressure detonator. Only known from there and Savannah. Shame they weren't developed earlier.

All of us with early descendants that have been fighting and dying for this country from the beginning are probably all related somehow.

Which Malcom? That one has skipped a generation since Cpl Malcom. His grandson, my g grand was Malcom Clim (Make) his grandson my uncle was Malcolm Royce. Had I a son he would've been Malcolm Thomas.

Most of mine fought against it in the Carolinas. That's how we ended up in Spanish West Florida.

Though years later my g grand would marry the ggg grand daughter of a brigadier general they fought against.

My original bunch got off the boat from Scotland in 1774, and when Cornwallis showed up, they were still green to what was going down, so they formed up like good highlanders and fought for the crown. What didn't get sent to Canada hightailed it west as they'd worn out their welcome in the Carolinas.

But they were fully up to speed when Alabama left the union and to a man wore the grey.

Just like they did years later. Sold us the guns but wouldn't get their hands dirty.

I’d have sold guns to the Native Americans. Jackson can eat a big one. Here fellas. Leave those blankets be, and return fire.

If you and they have early American roots, most of the people you deal with every day are cousins of yours many different ways, many times. Family and friends migrated to America together and migrated within America together.

I have probably mentioned this before on Tman. My Great-Great Grandfather was shot in the thigh at the Battle of Chicamauga (sp.). I believe he was in the 39th Asheville (NC) infantry. He lived until 1930. My grandfather remembers his leg oozing fluid until he died. He mentioned had it not been for a row of corn he would have drowned. After the battle a torrential rain storm came and poured so much rain he had to force his head up on the row. I would guess it was probably a .58 cal? There is a marker at the Battle site that mentions his unit. The Chicamauga armory is pretty impressive.

Acts of cannibalism in Africa have been reported from various parts of the continent, ranging from prehistory until the 21st century.

And after the war, if they were offered a free ride back to the homeland, they da been running from the docks
