pick up a tail the other day roadkill beautiful tail big and white, cut it of check out fur it was good, put it in a plastic bag had about two hours before I got home, went to skin and it was spoiled, dang it,

this heat sucks, lesson learned,

Season doesn't open here till October 25th.
I've picked up a maybe 8-10 roadkill but not sure of the worth.
Thin leather compared to what you've been showing but some have nice tails.
I haven't put them up yet they're all skinned and frozen.

Is your regular season open or are they considered a nuisance animal where you live?

And yes these 70-80 degree days for weeks on end suck. Were also in a severe drought
Haven't gotten a roadkill in 2 weeks now. I did have a flurry of them for a bit

skunks are open year-round, here some of the big ones look good even nice belly, the news is said that everything is early because of the smoke this summer, every few days of sunshine, this summer someday seem like we lost a few hours of daylight because it was so bad all these skunks are from people's yards

Good looking skunks, I've been after them a bit. I have a chest freezer at a farm about half way through my line and everything in the truck when I get to that point gets put in until I'm done for the day. It is not enough time to freeze but gets the chilled and keeps the flies off. I skin as soon as I get home and have been freezing the hides until it cools down enough that I can flesh and not have to worry about hides drying with bugs and flies on them. Sure is alot more enjoyable getting after them in a t-shirt than dealing with frozen ground.

I found a couple roadkills today. One is good...one is iffy. Ill borax them.

They are really moving around. Saw plenty of fresh road kills on the way to work this morning.

Looks like I’m putting up 8 tomorrow afternoon don’t want to go to my check up smelling too much like skunk and fur shed in the morning. LOL The one from today had a full furred belly on it and fat to trim so that’s looking good.

Found 9 to put up saving one other one for a taxidermist guy a couple have no white I'll hold those back I don't think the all black tails have value for tails.

so the last pic, I posted the tail didn't look like much white, this is why we must look close,

I figured the ones they don’t like/want I’ll get tanned or sell to my other markets they should only get better now. Fleshing the tails are a pain some are worse than others the head/necks on the older ones can be tough you just need to remove the fat and live with the thicker layer of skin it’s not coming off.

They keep getting ran over just a couple hundred yards from my drive. By the time season gets here there won't be many left.

Start picking them up. That's what I do

Busy highway. Lot of big rigs. By the time I see them they are just a greasy spot.

I drive alot of miles with my job. Picked up two last week. One might be one too many days in the sun. I borax them all. Another small one today but it was fresh. Gaining.

Heres two that are dried. One laid in the sun a bit long but I tried. Did lose another one I thought I could save.

With the warmer weather and the greasy tails it’s a challenge saving them from slipping then theres the flies to battle, come on winter!
