A little over a year ago I tripped getting out of the boat at the dock and one of my daughters said that maybe we shouldn't have the crippled old guy doing it. My mind was willing but not my body. I seriously evaluated myself. I wasn't that old(55) but I was FAT (269#). Blood pressure was 135/100, cholesterol was really high, and I should have already been on metformin. I was staring down the barrel of diabetes. I've heard my wife telling me a million times that I needed to make better choices in life. I will say it. She was RIGHT. I started with what I was eating and how much I was eating. Drinking water instead of sugary drinks. More God food and little to no highly processed foods. Trying to also eliminating gluten. Getting more sleep. Basically making healthy choices. Currently I weight 189#. I lost 80 pounds. Blood pressure is 100/65, A1C is now perfect and cholesterol is low. I didn't realize the dramatic change until I seen a picture that Autumn Lhotka posted on Facebook and a picture from this last weekend. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/10/full-32250-270951-screenshot_20251005_143023_facebook.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/10/full-32250-270952-messenger_creation_e436bb6a_c32d_4152_8890_70ea1aa23468.jpeg)

Congratulations! That’s a lot to be proud of. I need to take your cue and make some changes myself.

I recognize the guy in the first photo but who is the young buck in the second one?
I have nothing clever to put here.

That is fantastic. But don't cut out animal fats, or your cognitive ability will decline. In my personal experience if you cut out carbs such as wheat, rice, potatoes, and sugary drinks, you can eat about anything you like, and maintain good numbers all the way around.

Clean shaved, haircut and weight loss, you look a lot younger. Congratulations.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

I forgot to mention that as well. I cut out all seed oils and exclusively use lard and real butter.

just curious. Any exercise involved - weight lifting, cardio, etc? or just diet change? Walk about 8 miles per day. 5 days per week minimum

Good job, and pills for cholesterol would be good thing. I've been taking them for a few years now. My excuse is the wife is a good cook. But every hunting and trapping season I lose weight. I feel better when I do.
Keep up the good work
Let me sugar coat this
