I wish I had a picture of the one I used to have. It was an 8 foot pram and very stable. I used a 2 hp Evinrude on it and trap a lot of spring beaver and rats on a section of a small river in Eastern Washington. Came in a couple times with not a lot of free board. I loved that little boat but sold it before we moved to Alaska. It really wouldn’t have worked up there but I had many great seasons with it prior to moving north. Sometime loaded too heavy with rat floats or beaver. But never took on water.

Now I have my two canoes, a 19 foot freighter with a 9 hp Backwater motor and a 16 foot Old Town square steer that I use with a 6hp motor or paddle depending on the situation. Also have my 14 foot Grumman with a 20 hp Suzuki. Pretty well covers all my needs with these three.

Trail cameras and fresh snow have broke a lot of trapper’s hearts.

Trapset I cheat. I worked in boat yards as a kid form age 10 up. At first selling gas on the docks and delivering ice and preping boats for the customers on Friday for their weekends. And any free time I was inside watch and helping the skilled wooden boat builders. Most of Who were merchant Mariners in WW II and half were torpedoed by the germans. For those of you who know the NJ boat yards I worked at Mimhs, zobels, seamans several summers each and the last year of college at the Alantic Highland marina in charge of several kids. The boat in the photo was designed by a New Zealand guy named Hartley. I have built boats designed by Roberts also. Basic plans that most of you guys could follow. It is easy once you start. Oh and several sailboats too up to 45 feet.....jk
