I'm would like to get one of those small battery jumper starter/charger that are about the size of a cell phone. Will they work for 4 wheeler, and boat batteries to jump start also.

What kind is a good one to buy and pros and cons?
Thanks

The hoots here use electric fencer solar panels that plug into the cigarette lighters not sure how great they work. You would think it would require a “hot” source at all times at least. Never tried it myself might be an issue with newer electrical systems now should work on an older model maybe.

Ive had a couple. they work great when they work. I have a tendency to leave them in my truck in Northern Michigan and that seems to ruin them. Guess going multiple years without use in every heat and cool cycle will ruin them. Maybe if you have warmer weather and remember to bring it inside to charge monthly it may last.

I have one, but it's more like the size of a couple packs of cigarettes, it will start the truck, maybe 2 times before it loses too much power, you should charge them up periodically if you expect it to work..found it in walmart, forget the name but the company has been around a long time.
Handy to have on hand but for heavy applications it's limited, probably great for smaller toys, lol

The first one I had years ago wasnt much larger than a VHS tape cut in half. It had no trouble jumping diesel pickup trucks...impressive for their size

They also have units you can buy that you just plug your Milwaukee or Dewalt battery into and it acts as a jump pack...I have not personally tries those, but might be an option worth looking at

I have a NOCO and have been very pleased with it. I have jumped full size trucks, cars, my 35 HP diesel tractor, small excavator, etc. doubles as a power pack for usb devices during power outages too. I’m going on 4 years with mine and have gave 4-5 out as Christmas gifts and everyone has been impressed. They make some decent chargers as well.

It’s about the size of 3-4 pack of cigarettes but still compact

NOCO is basically the go too for small https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GBX45-UltraSafe-Powerbank-6-5-Liter/dp/B0924V8SPC?ref_=ast_sto_dp

I have two of the larger ones , a E5000 and a schumacker both are just sealed lead acid batteries that have cables and chargers built in to the case

start and run a light truck with this in place of the battery to test them and it works fine

Milwaukee now makes one that works off your tool batteries might be worth looking into if you have Milwaukee tools around.

bought 2 off amazon last year. 1 has built in inflator and other does not. I use the inflator one about every other day to air up my atv or utv tires. Both of mine were rated to start like 7.5 diesel motors and both have started an old jd diesel 4020 tractor. 2 off names but both rated well on amazon. Happy with both. Charge easy, both have plugs for the cables and cases but I usually just shove inflator one in my utv glove box - think I paid under 60 bucks for each of mine and very happy with them.

I evaluated price, what they would start - bigger sized diesels, and ratings and wanted them under 80 bucks each

just checked again and found several around 60 bucks with inflators and capable of starting bigger diesels - I would pay an extra 40 bucks for the inflator as it is worth it to me - I would not pay the extra hundred or so for the noco name - too many of knockoffs that seem to work well. Have over a year on mine - not saying the noco ones wont last longer but I can buy another 2 for the price

We use the NOCO brand in a few sizes. In my truck I carry a Noco 155 that is large enough to start sizeable diesel engines. Carry smaller sizes in the SXS, Expedition, and boats.

Shop on amazon or walmart on Black Friday for good deals.

No experience with other brands.

I have a GooLoo. It’s at least five years old. It’s not the size of a cell phone, maybe the size of four packs of cigarettes. It can stay in the Subaru for six months, still shows 97% charge. It started my 2500 Chevy with a 6.0 L last winter….zero degrees.

I've had 2. The first was an AntiGravity Batteries XP-10. It worked great for several years and would jump anything from the 125 hp John Deere to the 4 wheeler. It also was good for charging phones remotely and even running a laptop computer if needed. It didn't do well being left in a hot vehicle in GA in the summers. I did get about 3 or 4 years out of it before it would no longer hold a charge. I actually got one for each of our company vehicle because it worked so well.

The one I have now is a BASAF and it works great when needed. It is probably at least 5 years old and still holds a good charge but it wasn't left in vehicles in the hot sun for years but rather kept in a side by side in a shaded barn most of the time. I charge it every couple of months and it still is going strong.

I've reviewed many of them over the years and the NOCO seem to be the best year-over-year and will probably be the next one I get when I need to replace the current one.
