Took last week to go deer hunting.
Spouse got on the board 1st with a nice 4x3.
First time in years he took the first shot.

Had high winds and cold temps to deal with but the deer still had to feed and water.

Passed on the buck I shot the 2nd evening and regretted it. Looked high and low for him all week and the last morning we stumbled upon him, coming over from the neighbors place.
I made a good shot once he stood up and we had a pretty easy pack down the draw to the side by side.

Getting both bucks tooth aged from WG&F, his is probably 4.5 yrs old, mine has some good wear so we're thinking 6.5 or so on him.

This was on the ranch we work for. Open country hunting.
Drought was terrible this year, creek finally has some water in it now.
Hoping trapping season is just as good as deer season was.

Savell we think about 190-200 lbs live weight, 175 dressed.
They were different body types. Mine was stocky and shorter body, husbands was longer , big bodied.
We see these 2 types all over the ranch, one will be more brownish colored and they other more gray.
It was a drought year so we' didn't expect great antler growth.
Neither a true trophy but we're happy.
Both are going to hang for at least 10 days, they were rutty.

I took my 1st WT outside of Hemphill. Hunted those piney woods for a few years, dated a local guy.
Did a lot of field work too over there while in college, SFA school of Forestry.
Neat country and interesting folks. You included.
