In Alaska, the employer and employee pay into an unemployment fund. I doubt they pay the whole bill tho. In the late 70s/80s a guy could work a few months then pull unemployment for over 6 months. Nowadays it's somewhat more restrictive but still easy money once you get in. I think you only get 16 weeks, maybe one extension. So unemployment is somewhat different than welfare.

It's typically the employer who pays into the state unemployment insurance program....not the employee
And it doesn't come from tax payer taxes

And it doesn't come from tax payer taxes It does when the state fund runs out of money, as happened during COVID. In the state of Maine, employees do not pay into U/E, so either Bruce is just uninformed or else is fibbing again. But, when people rely on U/E to provide their living, it increases the tax rate that the company must pay in for U/E, making the company generally less profitable, which isn't good for anyone... I guess except the person getting paid not to work.

How old are you Bruce T? Simple southern math you have to kill 10 deer EVERY YEAR for 50 years just to reach 500 that’s a lot of deer. One season being sick, working,or bad luck and it goes up I know a guy in ohio that's shot 24 deer on damage permits in the last 2 weeks and he had another 66 deer in his alfalfa fields last night. Bruce T wouldn't lie about what he's shot I'm his lifetime.
IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD !

It might not be welfare in your eyes Bruce but when you are intentionally living off money you did work for or earn its welfare in my eyes. Its coming out of someone's pocket and you didn't earn so by my definition its welfare. And its the kind of stuff that's dragging this country down. Wrong again drama queen. The company that hires me and myself are the only ones that pay in.Nobody else.I can only draw out what is put in and theres a time frame that I can draw it as well.

Your wrong again as always drama queen. Both myself and the company that employees me pays for the unemployment.Nobody else.I don't fib unlike you. Incorrect. Unemployment insurance provides a temporary source of income to individuals who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own. Unemployment insurance is funded solely by unemployment taxes paid by employers; employees do not pay into the unemployment system.. Yotetrapper please show me where I was talking about Maine?I said Mass.So your wrong again. Ok. I assumed since you were a seasonal employee in ME, you drew ME U/E and not MA U/E. But, the same is true for MA. Employees of this business or organization are covered by Unemployment Insurance (UI), a program financed entirely by Massachusetts employers. No deductions are made from your salary to cover the cost of your Unemployment Insurance benefits.
