Not sure but I was told most four legged critters are color blind. I'm going to use duct tape or paint them so I can see them.

The ones I wanted to see easier I dipped in thinned white Rustoleum. Works good until it snows. I usually put one of blue flags on a wire next to mine. Put them just far enough away that caught coon dont knock them down. Of course easy to spot once catch coon.

They live in ground dens, old buildings, barns, junk cars, rock piles, thick grass, brush piles and even in the trees when they can find them around here among other places. They are very adaptable that way. Here's a couple old catch pictures to give you a better idea of our terrain...

Later in the season, when raccoons are rutting and food isn’t of interest… dob some castor or coyote gland lure on a cotton ball and shove it under the trigger.
I don’t know why raccoon are attracted to coyote gland,,, but it does work.

I don’t carry a tree with me everywhere I might set a DP. And my new batch of No BS DPs are plenty stout. Or I’m plenty weak. At any rate I like have a setter along with me. And the mud brown mine was originally made it a joy to find if I set it down one the ground.

Trail cameras and fresh snow have broke a lot of trapper’s hearts.

The subject of this thread is “tips”. Not every post contains requirements, nor is applicable for every person who wants to set a trap.

Can’t believe you wreck a perfectly good goofball over a coon:)
