I gotta laugh , I was retro and cool and didn't even know it.....lol

There is an article on Fox on how older/retro salad dressings are making a comeback.

https://www.foxnews.com/food-drink/...e-ruled-americas-fridges-making-comeback

One of the dressings mentioned , is Catalina by Kraft.

This is my fav. I have always had some on hand. I've even taken it with me to restaurants. Most restaurants don't offer french dressing anymore and Catalina is like french dressing on steroids. Much more zing and taste than french dressing.

What is your favorite/or homemade dressing to die for ?

I’ll eat a garden if you cover it in bleu cheese.

But I’m fine with a balsalmic vinaigrette. I like a nice bite to salad dressing

I like Kraft's Catalina. The French they had in the seventies and eighties was my favorite. They switched to creamy French that was foul and nearly inedible.

Very true. A lot of french dressings have gotten too creamy. Catalina is the core flavor. Yum !!!!!

Kens dressing was born in a great steakhouse. We were poor growing up but we always had kens dressing. Their greek dressing is really special.

I've had their stuff , it's good.

Even a crummy salad just a tad wilted is good with a good dressing.
A great salad with average dressing is just average.

Every once in a while I buy this local restaurant dressing (ranch type) available in just a few local supermarkets , as a treat. A bit spendy maybe 2X what I would normally pay. Found in the refrigerated section of produce. Very good , super savory. A nice splurge once in a while.

Anyone remember russian dressing? Before thousand island took over. Kind of like the french/catalina relationship.

When I was a kid thousand island was like ranch is today. Some clown even put it on his hamburgers.

Yes, we still make Russian Dressing. Mayo, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, and salt. It’s one of the family favorites, along with balsamic vinegrette.

The thousand island is a really good change up on burgers, imo. Also really good on sandwiches like a Yukon Jack.

Mom and I always had Catalina growing up. I still buy it today. My other favorites are honey mustard, blue cheese and balsamic.
