I have a stove in a shack up in the hills we use from time to time. I used heavy aluminum foil and wire to form around a connection. Wrap the foil tightly around that connection and wire tie above and below.

I did that years ago and it is still doing the trick.

last place we had we had issues starting the woodstove.
Smoked excessively and wouldn't draw when starting.
Open a door or window and all was well.
Once the fire was going (about 5 minutes or so) we could close the opening and no draw issues.

An outside air kit would solve that problem Dirty D.

With a kit installed, the stove is pulling air directly from outside and not fighting to pull it through the air gaps of the building.

Eh...wot?

Yep I leave the door cracked on stove for a few minutes also. I don't have issues but till really helps to warm up that pipe sooner etc..

G smith if you’re referring to my post I’m agreeing with you, the difference I welded a piece of DOM on the stove to make it an 8 inch male to go inside the female side of the elbow.
