Any tips for setting this little creek for mink? It’s loaded with tracks.

Well I tried to upload pics but it never works on this site. What we have is a little creek that the water is only like 24” wide and 5-6” deep. The area is sandy it is under a little bridge. I have never trapped any mink but lots of sign under these bridges we have 1.5 with the mink pans on them plus 110’s. I don’t know if I could punch a pocket set in? I wouldn’t be able to drowned a coon if they got in it

The best way IMO is to find a good blind set location, then dig a pocket right in that spot and bait it with fish or a chunk of muskrat and place your trap near the pocket under a little bit of water. Mink are easy to catch if they are there.

if you look you can usually find trails in the grass or does the water edge go to the bridge also a good spot to set

Mr sigpros no bait needed especially trapping feeder streams and bridges look for little bump-out humucks in the streams and use a 110 at the very bottom snugging the verticle structure
under bridges if you really take the time to study how mink will hug the edges the runs underwater can be as prominate as the runs in the mud that are out of the water as soon as you use bait you will start picking up coons
so secure the sets acordingly pocket sets with the hole at the water level baited with fresh muskrat and or a touch of Halbakers clam oil is a favorite of mine if you are using leg traps in your pockets be sure to place the trap so the mink
walks thru the trap not over the trap that can be the differance between a body catch and a toe catch and drive a stake from the top of the bank to the back of the pocket to allow the odor to escape up thru the top of the bank that really increases your odds mink can be crazy territoral so the use of a quality mink gland really can get the big males worked up and Mr Bob Jamisons pure Mink gland is the best on the market
