Nice pics Deerfly! How's the water levels around you? Are you seeing much mink sign in the snow?

Great pics deerfly. Love seeing the kids get involved.

59 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

Is that a non-target catch? Best to delete that.

Great pictures guys keep it up. Guess I'll have to learn how to do it.

Pulled today and I thought I would have a day off from skinning, but I had 3 coon and a grinner. I think the coon count is 44 but I'm not sure. And without counting I know I have at least 40+ grinners. Everything is skinned and on the boards. But I'm done till after gun deer season.
Good luck and stay safe in the woods.

Nope! I saw a rabbit trail and set the 150 specifically for it

Checked 11 sets on a lakeshore and 6 bottom edge on a creek I've trapped since the 1960s. I'm only running a small line as my age is starting to catch up to me.

I guess. Hope it was a nuisance rabbit on your own property, because recreational trapping for rabbits and squirrels isn't allowed in Wisconsin. They're not classified as furbearers.

A beaver today in one set, the other 330 made a catch too but unfortunately was stolen by a bear that was out and about. The trap was fastened well but the was no match for the hungry bear.

Nice catches Walt! The water is lower that normal locally this year for lack of rain later in the summer season and early fall. Still pockets of rats though, ill trap if time allows when things freeze up, which wont be far off. The 5 bottom edge sets have only been checked 3 days, 2 days with snow, so my observation of mink sign has been limited. Thought id have had one in the last 3 checks, time will tell.

Good luck to those going hunting this weekend

A few shots from this evening

Right, those are the nuisance trapping reg I was referring to. Not trying to start a fight, but posting a pic of a rabbit in a trap could give some the wrong idea. Looks like a fence in the pic so makes sense it's private property. Doesn't hurt to clarify that rabbits aren't a typical target species in WI. Keep on keepin on.

That was out of the regular trapping regulations... Not sure where it says anything about it being nuisance regulations on that page.

Also that isn't a fence post it's a stake to hold support the trap smile But yes it is on my property grin
But yeah, it doesn't hurt to clarify that they aren't a target species in WI smile

Maybe provisions means nuisance I don't know lol laugh What does provisions mean there?

The powers in charge have repeatedly refused to include the nuisance trapping information in the general trapping regulations. There's a whole document on the DNR website dedicated to that information, and they must think thats enough. No mention in the regs about acting as an agent of a landowner for nuisance trapping and the necessary paperwork that allows year-round trapping for certain species by an agent of the landowner to remove nuisance species. If you're the landowner or occupant, the animals don't need to be causing damage.

Any rabbits or squirrels caught with traps would count towards your daily bag limit and possession limit.

Thanks for the info. Tiguy. Those are some " grey areas " in our trapping regs. Looks like Coyote Cowboy is doing a great job of being well informed of the laws Wis. trappers should be aware of. We need more young people like him. Tight chains to both of you.
